2012 Pinot Noir, Sonoma County
Winemaking & Vineyard Details
Deep ruby plum colored, it boasts abundant notes of black cherries, cola, and smoke in its intense full bodied personality. Nice layered texture with sweet velvety tannins and a rich concentrated mouthfeel.
Our Sonoma County offering is predominantly a blend of barrels from our Russian River Valley and Bennett Valley vineyards. The final cuveé contains twenty percent from the Anderson Valley and the Santa Lucia Highlands. We select barrels that offer this bottling supple fruit that will impress in its youth allowing enjoyment of the wines pure fruit flavors.
Plentiful sunshine and perfect temperatures combined to create what will be remembered as an extraordinary 2012 vintage in Northern California. The weather yielded layers of flavor and terrific structure in the grapes—which translated to excellent wine. The sun kept shining, with beautifully consistent daytime temperatures that hovered between 85 degrees and 90 degrees. Nights cooled off to the mid-50’s, preserving essential acidity in the grapes. We had the luxury of picking each vineyard exactly when desired without any pressure from inclement weather.
